Twenty seven players, seventeen of them first years or sophomores, made up the Brunswick High roster at the start of school. Since then a handful more, who will begin with the junior varsity squad, have joined the team bringing the numbers into the thirties. The band played, the snack shack was busy, and a near full moon rose just before half-time, but there was plenty of parking. There are five paid coaches, one a hold-over from the program’s prior make-up, along with some additional volunteers. The junior varsity squad will progress cautiously with a shorter schedule and some controlled scrimmages. The varisty’s two losses have been lop-sided but well within the range of typical scores in Maine high school football.
